King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Belfast for their first visit to Northern Ireland in 2026. The royal couple attended an event in the Titanic Quarter to celebrate the city hosting Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in August.
They were greeted by Irish dancers and musicians at the event, where they played bodhran drums during a performance. Bronagh McClean, who helps run Ards CCÉ, said she felt extremely nervous before performing for the royals.
The Belfast Bands Forum members were not briefed in advance about the visit, and the royal couple surprised them upon arrival. The King and Queen later travelled to Hillsborough Castle, where they met First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly.
