The King Charles III England Coast Path extends 2,689 miles along England's coastline and has been formally opened by Charles III. It is recognised as the world's longest managed coastal walking route.
The path connects previously separate sections of footpath through 1,000 miles of new construction and upgrades. It includes boardwalks, resurfaced trails, and new access points to beaches and cliff-tops.
The project was initiated under Gordon Brown's government and required the Marine and Coastal Access Act of 2009. It was led by Neil Constable of Natural England and completed after 18 years.
