Maria McAllister has joined the board of Invest Northern Ireland, beginning a term that runs to March 31, 2029. The appointment took effect on August 1 after Peter Lynch left the board.
McAllister is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has more than 30 years of experience in finance, governance and risk management. Much of her career was spent in senior positions at Bank of Ireland, working across organisational change, business development and oversight.
She is currently transformation and governance director at GM Marketing Ireland. She also serves as a non-executive director of the NOW Group, a social enterprise operating in Belfast and Dublin that supports people into training and employment.
Invest NI is Northern Ireland's economic development agency and a delivery body of the Department for the Economy. Its board provides strategic and corporate oversight of programmes designed to support investment, business growth, innovation and exports.
The appointment fills the remainder of a board cycle and is shorter than a standard three-year term so that it ends with the terms of members appointed in April. Board membership carries annual remuneration of £13,501 and is expected to involve about two days of work each month.
