Derek Wilson has been reappointed as Chair of the Sports Grounds Safety Authority Board for a three-year period beginning in April 2027.
The appointment follows his previous service on the board and aligns with the Remuneration and Governance Code, which sets the Chair's remuneration at £36,260 per annum.
Wilson brings over thirty years of experience as a specialist sports architect, having worked on five Olympic and Paralympic Games since Sydney 2000.
His portfolio includes high-profile stadium designs for clubs such as Arsenal FC and Everton FC, alongside the construction of Optus Stadium in Perth.
During his tenure as Head of Design and Overlay for London 2012, he contributed to safety standards that have since been adopted across major events.
Beyond Olympic venues, Wilson has served as an accessibility advisor to the Premier League since 2014 and helped deliver ten NFL Super Bowls.
He currently chairs the Premier League Stadium Improvement Panel and has previously held board positions with the Football Licensing Authority.
Wilson has confirmed he has not declared any political activity in connection with this appointment.
