A knife attack in Richelieu, Commewijne District, Suriname, killed nine people including five children. The incident occurred at multiple residences during a domestic dispute involving a 43-year-old male suspect.
The suspect attacked his children and neighbors who arrived to assist. He later attempted to assault police officers who responded to the scene.
The suspect was injured during his arrest and is now recovering in hospital. A sixth child and another adult were seriously injured and received treatment in Paramaribo.
