The Department for the Economy announced on 21 September that it is seeking candidates to serve as Chairs across four regional further education institutions in Northern Ireland.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate the energy and attributes necessary to support best practice, engage in effective partnerships and oversee college services.
These governing bodies are tasked with securing efficient management, providing suitable education to students and determining strategic direction for their respective colleges.
The four institutions involved are Northern Regional College, South Eastern Regional College, Southern Regional College and South West College, representing a significant portion of the sector's regional capacity.
Colleges operate as non-departmental public bodies established under the Further Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 and support a regionally balanced economy by meeting local employer needs.
A Chair is expected to commit approximately one day per week to college business, including evening governing body meetings and regular interaction with the Department.
While knowledge of the further education sector is not essential for the role, candidates must be prepared to ensure the Economy Minister's priorities are reflected in sectoral plans.
