Revised CCEA GCSE qualifications are planned to be taught in schools for the first time from September 2029 under the Department of Education's reform timetable.
The Education Minister gave the planned date in an Assembly statement on the Department's policy framework for general qualifications, published in March.
The framework retains GCSE and A-level qualifications while changing assessment arrangements, including the removal of standalone CCEA AS-level qualifications.
Detailed regulations for the revised arrangements have yet to be developed. The GCSE reforms are due to be introduced following phased development and support for schools.
