Shaharuddin sets Commonwealth C1 race against the clock record

Malaysia's Mohamad Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin has broken the Commonwealth Games record in the men's para-cycling C1 1000m event at Glasgow 2026.

Shaharuddin recorded 1:14.547 at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome, setting a new Games benchmark in the classification. Commonwealth Sport reported the performance today and described it as a breakthrough ride for the Malaysian athlete.

The C1 1000m event is decided against the clock, with riders judged on their individual times over the distance. Shaharuddin's mark now becomes the Commonwealth Games reference point for the men's event in that classification.

The record gives Malaysia a significant moment in the Glasgow para-cycling programme. It also places Shaharuddin in Commonwealth Games history through a measured performance, with the time of 1:14.547 attached directly to the new standard.
