Shane Lowry has become the first player in the history of the TMRW Golf League (TGL) to be traded, moving from The Bay Golf Club to Boston Common Golf ahead of the 2027 season.
The move sees the Derry native link up with six-time major winner Rory McIlroy, who already leads a squad that includes USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and Masters champions Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.
Lowry spent his initial two seasons in the league at The Bay Golf Club before making the switch to Boston Common Golf for the new campaign.
In exchange for Lowry, The Bay Golf Club will acquire Boston Common Golf's fourth draft selection to fill an open roster spot, alongside one future selection over the next three seasons and commercial considerations.
The league is set to expand its team rosters to five players for the upcoming season, which takes place at the SoFi Centre in Florida.
The competition combines traditional golf with technology as part of the third season of the TGL.
Elsewhere in the league, Motor City Golf Club has announced that five-time major winner Brooks Koepka will join as its first player.
Lowry confirmed his departure before the third season of the tournament began.
