Agreement with five of six statements concerning refugees and asylum seekers fell to its lowest recorded level in 2025, according to an Executive Office analysis of Northern Ireland Life and Times survey responses.
The report found that 49% of respondents agreed that asylum seekers should be allowed to stay in Northern Ireland. Some 27% agreed that Northern Ireland welcomes refugees escaping persecution.
Fifty-seven per cent agreed that providing protection to refugees escaping persecution is a duty.
