President Donald Trump has signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law. The legislation mandates the release of unclassified materials related to Jeffrey Epstein within 30 days.
The law requires the materials to be made available in a searchable and downloadable format. Authorities may withhold child sex exploitation material, victims’ identifying details, and information concerning active investigations or national defence.
The law specifies that no record should be withheld on grounds of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity. The Department of Justice must comply with the law’s provisions, including those restricting the release of sensitive information.
