The Senate rejected a war powers resolution by a 47-53 vote, with most senators voting along party lines. The measure sought to require congressional approval before further military actions against Iran.

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky voted in favor of the resolution, while Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania opposed it. The vote occurred amid heightened tensions following a U.S. attack on Iran.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated the conflict could last up to eight weeks, with U.S. service members still at risk. Six American military personnel were killed in a drone strike in Kuwait over the weekend.
