Protests in Des Moines oppose U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran

More than 100 people protested in Des Moines against U.S.-Israel military actions targeting Iran, citing violations of law and constitution.

Protesters gathered at the Iowa Capitol on 2 March 2026 to oppose U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran. The demonstration followed air operations that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and more than 1,250 targets inside the country.

Participants included members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Democratic Socialists of America, and Des Moines for Palestine. They described the military campaign as an unprovoked act violating international law and the U.S. constitution.

Amber Lynch of Feed Des Moines said the U.S. government prioritised imperial aims over domestic needs like food security. Michaelyn Mankel linked the war to Trump’s use of emergency powers to deploy federal agents against immigrants.
