Ireland's WXV Global Series campaign in South Africa later this month is set to proceed without influential forward Aoife Wafer.
The 23-year-old Harlequins player has been ruled out of the squad that will depart for Cape Town on Thursday.
Head coach Scott Bemand confirmed the decision following a remote training week conducted after victories over Japan.
Former co-captain Sam Monaghan remains unavailable due to an Achilles injury, while second row Ruth Campbell returns from an ankle issue to feature in the 30-man roster.
Captain Erin King leads a group that includes recently capped internationals Beth Buttimer, Jemima Adams Verling, Kate Jordan, Sophie Barrett and Alana McInerney.
The forward line comprises Beth Buttimer of Munster, Brittany Hogan from Sale Sharks, Cliodhna Moloney-MacDonald at Exeter Chiefs, Dorothy Wall also at Exeter Chiefs, Eilis Cahill of UL Bohemian RFC/Munster, Fiona Tuite-O'Sullivan from Old Belvedere RFC/Ulster, Grace Moore representing Munster, Jane Clohessy from UL Bohemian RFC/Munster and Jemima Adams.
Ireland's only prior encounter with South Africa occurred during the 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup in Canada, where the Irish secured a 37-0 victory.
The squad will return to the IRFU High Performance Centre on Monday before heading to Cape Town for contests scheduled for 24 and 31 October.
