Republic of Ireland manager Carla Ward has confirmed the inclusion of Crystal Palace midfielder Shanade Hopcroft in her roster for the upcoming Women's World Cup play-off against Kazakhstan.
The England-born player, who is 28 years old, gained eligibility for the Republic of Ireland through her grandmother, a native of County Sligo.
Hopcroft joins a squad that has already undergone significant changes following their failure to secure automatic qualification after losing the winner-takes-all final qualifier against France in June.
The Republic of Ireland will face either Poland or Belgium in the play-off final if they advance from this tournament, having made their World Cup debut at the 2023 event in Australia.
While experienced defender Heather Payne returns to the team for the first time since last year, several key players are absent from the initial group.
Captain Katie McCabe and midfielder Marissa Sheva are suspended for the fixture, while Denise O'Sullivan will not be travelling with the squad for the opening leg.
Tara O'Hanlon is ruled out due to a hamstring injury and Saoirse Noonan is excluded following an ankle issue, whereas Ruesha Littlejohn remains unselected despite currently being without a club affiliation.
The first match takes place in Astana on 9 October at 12:00 BST, with the second leg scheduled for Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork on 13 October at 19:30.
Goalkeepers Courtney Brosnan from Everton, Grace Moloney of Southampton, and Sophie Whitehouse from Charlton Athletic are named alongside defenders Aoife Mannion, Heather Payne, Anna Patten, Caitlin Hayes, Jessie Stapleton, Megan Connolly, Hayley Nolan, Chloe Mustaki, and Katie McCabe.
The squad list also features Crystal Palace's Hopcroft and Brighton & Hove Albion's Hayes among the selected outfield players.
