The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has published the latest Northern Ireland Farm Performance Indicators booklet for 2024/25.
The publication, issued on 24 July 2026, is the twenty-third edition of the annual booklet. DAERA said it is designed to give farmers reliable data to assess the performance of their farm businesses.
The figures are drawn from farm account information collected through the 2024/25 Northern Ireland Farm Business Survey. DAERA said the survey is based on a representative sample of farm businesses and accurately reflects performance levels achieved on farms in Northern Ireland.
Enterprise results are presented in gross margin format. The booklet includes the value of output, variable costs and gross margin for each of the main enterprises found on Northern Ireland farms.
DAERA said 11 of the 13 main farm enterprises recorded increases in gross margins between 2023/24 and 2024/25. The results also show a wide range of performance levels between farms.
For dairy cows, the difference in gross margin per cow between enterprises classified as excellent and poor was £1,012 per cow. The booklet also contains information on hay, silage and grazing costs, along with average fixed costs by type of farm.
Copies of Northern Ireland Farm Performance Indicators 2024/25 are available free of charge from DAERA by email. The department has also made the booklet available for access online.
