Essential water network upgrade to get underway on Racecourse Road, Ballyarnett NI Water is set to begin an essential watermain upgrade on Racecourse Road, Ballyarnett (Derry/Londonderry) on Monday 27th July to improve the resilience of the local water supply network. The work, which involves laying around 170 metres of new watermain between Carnhill Roundabout and Greenhaw Road, will replace a section of the 50-year-old Ballyarnett Water Trunkmain which has been prone to bursts. The upgrade will help to protect homes from flooding, should a burst occur in the future, and provide improved access for NI Water maintenance.A lane closure controlled by temporary traffic lights will be in place on Racecourse Road around the working area from Monday 27th July for four weeks. A further two weeks of work will take place in the adjacent verge which will not require any traffic management.Temporary traffic lights will be manned during peak hours and access to properties will be maintained at all times, although parking spaces within the working area will be temporarily unavailable. Once the lane closure is removed, works will move into the adjacent verge to complete the final phase of work.W
