Donald Trump arrives in Republic of Ireland for historic two-day state visit

The former US president is set to land on Air Force One next Saturday, marking the first time a sitting American leader has visited since Joe Biden in 2023.

Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday morning via Dublin Airport aboard Air Force One.

This trip represents the earliest arrival by a US president in the country since Joe Biden's state visit in April 2023.

Upon landing, Mr Trump will proceed directly to meet President Michael D. Connolly at the presidential residence.

A bilateral meeting between the two leaders is planned before Mr Trump travels to his pre-arranged golf course in Doonbeg, County Clare.

During the stay, he is expected to attend matches in the Irish Open golf tournament and potentially present the tournament winner with a trophy on Sunday evening.

Security arrangements for the high-profile operation will be overseen closely by Irish security forces.

The itinerary has been confirmed as part of a long-planned diplomatic engagement.
