Kris Lowe's early goal proved decisive as Dungannon Swifts secured a 1-0 NIFL Premiership victory over Portadown at Shamrock Park.

Lowe struck in the 14th minute to put Dungannon ahead, giving the visitors a lead they would carry through the remainder of the afternoon.

Portadown made their first change six minutes after the interval, when Ben Kennedy replaced Finn Flanagan. Dungannon responded with a double substitution in the 65th minute as Tiernan Kelly and Chukwuemeka Uzokwe entered the game.

A tightly fought closing period brought a succession of bookings but no further goal, allowing Dungannon to leave Shamrock Park with all three points from a 1-0 win.

The victory was Dungannon's first of the league season following a 3-1 home defeat by Coleraine. Portadown, beaten by the same 1-0 scoreline at Carrick Rangers on the opening weekend, are still waiting for their first point.
