Remco Evenepoel won stage 15 of the Tour de France after a summit finish at Plateau de Solaison.
The Tour de France's stage report records Evenepoel finishing ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Isaac del Toro after the 183.9km route from Champagnole. The stage was described by the race as the first hors categorie finish of the 2026 Tour.
Pogacar set the pace on the final climb, according to the official report, with Evenepoel the only rider to follow it. Evenepoel then produced the decisive sprint at the summit to take the stage victory.
The result gave Evenepoel his third Tour stage win, following victories in individual stages against the clock in 2024 and 2025. The race also stated that the win was Belgium's 500th stage victory in the Tour de France.
Pogacar remained ahead of his rivals in the wider race picture, while Evenepoel moved to second overall. The official account also said Jonas Vingegaard withdrew after crashing out, ending his race for the first time in six Tour appearances.
Stage 15 came before the second rest day and followed Pogacar's victory at Le Markstein on stage 14. On this occasion, the UAE Emirates-XRG pairing of Pogacar and del Toro had to settle for second and third behind Evenepoel at the mountain finish.
