The scheduled fixture between Glentoran and Ballymena United has been cancelled following an inspection that revealed a waterlogged surface at the Oval.

Duncan Ferguson, who was confirmed as manager of The Glens on Monday, will miss his first appearance in charge of the club.

Instead, he is set to lead his side away to Coleraine on Friday, 30 October, with the match broadcast live on BBC iPlayer at 19:45 GMT.

The decision to call off the home game was made after a pitch check conducted at 12:00 BST on Saturday morning.

This is not an isolated incident, as the Women's Challenge Cup final between Glentoran and Cliftonville scheduled for Saturday has also been postponed due to weather concerns.

A yellow warning from the Met Office covers Northern Ireland from 10:00 BST on Saturday until 12:00 GMT on Sunday.

Additionally, an amber alert is active for Saturday night, forecasting strong winds reaching speeds of up to 75mph.

The cancellation applies specifically to the match originally planned for Saturday at 15:00 BST.
