Hamas returned the remains of an unidentified person to Israeli authorities for forensic examination. The remains were not confirmed to belong to either of the two hostages still held in Gaza.
The two remaining hostages are Israeli police officer Ran Gvili and Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak. Forensic testing showed the partial remains returned earlier did not match either of them.
Palestinian militants reported finding additional remains in northern Gaza and handed them to the Red Cross. The Red Cross is acting as intermediary in the transfer of human remains between parties.
