The Health Minister, Robbie Butler, announced today that two Council Members (Lay) have been reappointed to the Patient and Client Council (PCC).

Mr Stephen Mathews and Mr Tom Irvine will serve on the body from 12 September 2026 until a date not later than 11 September 2030.

The PCC operates as an independent voice for the public within the development of policy and provision of health and social care services.

Established by the Health and Social Care (Reform) Act (NI) 2009, the Council comprises a Chair and sixteen members.

Membership includes representatives from district councils, voluntary organisations with an interest in health and social care, and a trade union.

Council Member positions carry an annual remuneration of £4,219 alongside a time commitment of two days per month.

The Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires that the political activity of appointees be published.

These appointments were made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.
