The King has approved a series of ministerial appointments across the UK Government, including changes to several Cabinet posts and minister of state roles.
Rt Hon John Healey MP has been appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, while Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP becomes Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. Rt Hon Louise Haigh MP has been named First Secretary of State, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office.
Other senior appointments include Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP as Secretary of State of Health and Social Care, Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, and Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade.
Rt Hon Lucy Powell MP becomes Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP Secretary of State for Defence. Rt Hon Alex Norris MP has been appointed Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice.
Rt Hon Dame Angela Eagle DBE MP takes the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs brief, Rt Hon Miatta Fahnbulleh MP becomes Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Rt Hon Stephen Kinnock MP becomes Secretary of State for Wales, and Rt Hon Sir Chris Bryant MP becomes Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
The appointments also include Rt Hon Anneliese Midgley MP as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury and Chief Whip, with Cabinet membership, and Rt Hon Ellie Reeves KC MP as Attorney General, attending Cabinet. Rt Hon Emma Reynolds MP becomes Chief Secretary to the Treasury and will also attend Cabinet.
