A package of town-centre regeneration projects has been completed in Larne, including a pop-up park on a former derelict site on Main Street, environmental improvements at Dunluce Street and support for businesses seeking to improve shopfronts.
The Department for Communities invested £331,945 in the work, with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council contributing £35,805. The projects were delivered through a joint departmental and council regeneration package for the town centre.
The pop-up park has been created on a former derelict Main Street site. It is among the completed projects identified by the Department for Communities as part of the investment in Larne’s town-centre environment and facilities.
Environmental improvement works at Dunluce Street also form part of the programme. The department said these works were delivered alongside the Main Street project and the support provided to local businesses for shopfront improvements.
The shopfront element of the package was intended to assist local businesses in improving the appearance of their premises. It sits alongside the public-realm and site-based works included in the completed regeneration projects.
The combined departmental and council investment was directed across the three strands of the programme: the pop-up park, the Dunluce Street environmental works and shopfront support. The Department for Communities has described the projects as improvements for Larne town centre.
