Mona McSharry and Ellen Walshe both won silver medals on the opening day of the World Aquatics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The 26-year-old from County Sligo finished second in her 200m breaststroke final with a time of 2:18.45.
That performance placed her just 0.18 seconds outside the Irish record she established at the 2025 World Cup.
Russia's Evgeniia Chikunova took gold in 2:17.20, with Vitalina Simonova securing bronze in 2:21.21.
Dublin's Walshe came second in the 200m butterfly in a time of 2:05.58.
China's Chang Mohan produced a strong swim to take gold in 2:04.15, while Xinyang Zhou claimed bronze in 2:05.65.
Both swimmers return to competition on Friday with McSharry scheduled for the 100m breaststroke and Walshe set for the 400m individual medley.
