A legal order has been made allowing roads in County Down to be used for competitive stages of the Down Rally on Saturday, August 22. The measure temporarily suspends the public right of way on the listed sections while the event is taking place.
Rathfriland Motor Club is named as the promoter. Closures apply only to the roads and time periods set out in the order, with traffic expected to return under the normal arrangements once each authorised period ends and the route is released.
The order takes effect on Friday, August 21, one day before the rally. It provides the legal basis for the event traffic plan but does not replace signs, marshal instructions or any later safety decision made at the location.
Residents and visitors planning journeys near the stages should consult the official order and associated schedule for the exact roads and times. Access can differ between sections, and ordinary through travel will not be possible while a competitive stage is live.
Organisers and road authorities can alter practical arrangements where safety or conditions require it. Spectators should use designated areas, avoid blocked roads and follow instructions from officials throughout the event.
