Weekday daytime closures on the A2 Ballywalter Road at Millisle remain scheduled until Friday 4 September as resurfacing work continues on a 1.1-kilometre section of the route. The Department for Infrastructure has set the closure hours at 08:00 to 18:00 on weekdays.
The £440,000 scheme extends from Drumfad Road to beyond Ballywiskin Road. It covers the A2 section of Ballywalter Road in Millisle and is intended to resurface the carriageway over that 1.1-kilometre length, according to the Department for Infrastructure.
The department’s programme provides for the road to reopen outside the weekday daytime working period. Evening and weekend reopening is scheduled while the work continues, with the closures planned only between 08:00 and 18:00 on weekdays.
The resurfacing scheme began on 27 July, the Department for Infrastructure has said. Its published programme identifies 4 September as the planned end date for the weekday daytime road closures, rather than the end of every evening or weekend access period.
The closure affects the stretch beginning at Drumfad Road and continuing beyond Ballywiskin Road. The department has identified this full section, rather than a shorter isolated location, as the area included in the current resurfacing scheme.
Road users are scheduled to encounter the closure during the stated weekday hours while works take place. The planned evening and weekend reopening means that the published restrictions do not apply continuously throughout the period leading to 4 September.
