Sinn Féin is questioning why the Specialised Urban Peacebuilding Fund (SEUPB) approved a request for grant funding to transform Ballysillan Playing Fields in North Belfast but declined similar support for the Fleadh We.
The committee retrospectively approved the Ballysillan funding request, which totals £8.4 million and aims to upgrade facilities at the site.
Belfast Council was approached by the Urban Villages team within the Stormont Executive Office to make the formal application for an increase in grant funding.
Councillor Beattie raised concerns during a meeting of the council's Strategic Policy and Resources Committee, asking Chief Executive John Walsh why the request for Fleadh We support was refused by SEUPB.
The organisation administers specialised funding in specific areas to promote peace, reconciliation, and economic prosperity across Northern Ireland.
An application deadline was assessed on Thursday 20th August at a special panel convened before the latest council meeting.
Councillor Beattie noted that the Fleadh We was described as the biggest and most successful peacebuilding event held on the island, yet no contribution was provided.
The grant funding must be claimed and spent by the end of September at the latest.
