A summer professional learning programme is offering funded places to 1,200 teachers across Northern Ireland. TransformED is running throughout July and August, with courses delivered in one or two-day formats by four university providers.
The programme is being delivered by Queen's University Belfast, Ulster University, St Mary's University College and Stranmillis University College. The Department of Education is providing bursaries intended to cover participation for the available places.
Course areas include school leadership, special educational needs, equity and inclusion, classroom practice and Irish-medium education. Individual sessions are designed to let teachers select training related to their role or the priorities of their school.
The department described the scheme as Northern Ireland's first comprehensive summer professional learning offer for teachers in more than a decade. It forms part of a wider plan to expand structured development opportunities outside the normal school term.
Teachers seeking a place must use the booking and eligibility arrangements published by the participating institutions. Availability varies between courses and dates, and the programme continues only through the remaining August schedule. Each provider publishes its own course timetable and enrolment instructions.
