Glentoran Women midfielder Aimee Kerr has made her senior Northern Ireland debut, appearing as a second-half substitute in the Women's Nations League meeting with Poland at Seaview.
The occasion ended in a 4-0 defeat for Northern Ireland against the unbeaten Group B1 leaders, but it marked a significant personal step for Kerr. Linfield defender Abi Sweetlove also made her senior debut and was named in the starting line-up.
Poland established control early through captain Ewa Pajor, who scored twice inside the opening nine minutes on her 100th international appearance. Paulina Tomasiak added a third before half-time and Adriana Achcinska completed the scoring shortly after the interval.
Northern Ireland continued to look for a response and produced several late opportunities. Kerr was involved in the closing passage of the match, working space for a shot that was gathered by Poland goalkeeper Kinga Szemik.
Tanya Oxtoby's side remain in contention for a promotion play-off place despite the setback. Their final group match is away to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a positive result would secure second position in the section.
For Kerr, the evening brought a first senior cap following her progress in domestic football with Glentoran. The final score belonged to a strong Poland side, but her introduction added another Women's Premiership-developed player to Northern Ireland's senior international ranks.
