The Northern Ireland Executive's Communities Department confirmed that the final phase of the Blacks Gate Development in Dunmurry has been completed, marking one of the most significant social housing achievements in recent years.

Gordon Lyons, who serves as the Minister for Communities, stated that the delivery of these units represents a substantial step forward for local residents.

A total of 196 new social homes have been made available on the site located off Blacks Road, adjacent to the M1 motorway.

This development stands as the latest addition to a series of projects completed during the current administration's tenure.

Cumulatively, 4,066 new social homes have been delivered since the Minister took office, with an additional 5,639 units currently under construction at various sites.

The housing stock includes a diverse range of options, from family-sized apartments and detached houses to bungalows and specialist accommodation designed for wheelchair users.

The land had remained vacant since 2009 following the closure of the Visteon car manufacturing facility before being transformed into a neighbourhood comprising 244 homes.
