Cliftonville Ladies forward Danielle Maxwell has been named the 2023 Women's Premiership Player of the Year after a season of sustained attacking influence for the north Belfast club.
Maxwell scored 14 times in 17 league appearances and also created chances for team-mates throughout the campaign. Her individual return was a central part of Cliftonville's challenge near the top of the table, even though Glentoran ultimately secured the league championship.
The Reds also reached four cup finals during the season. Maxwell found the net in the County Antrim Cup final as Cliftonville collected that trophy, adding a tangible team success to a year in which her consistency stood out across league and knockout football.
Her domestic form brought renewed international recognition. Maxwell returned to the Northern Ireland senior set-up during the summer programme and later scored an important equaliser against Hungary in October, extending the impact of her club performances into international football.
The award was presented through the Northern Ireland Football Writers and the NI Football League. It recognises a campaign in which Maxwell combined goals with creative work while remaining a prominent figure during Cliftonville's run across several competitions.
With the 2024 domestic season still ahead, the honour sets a clear benchmark. Cliftonville will aim to turn another strong challenge into further silverware, while Maxwell begins the year as the league's recognised leading performer from the previous campaign.
