Dungiven’s Revvv It Up festival has officially opened, with organisers expecting more than 20,000 visitors and competitors from around the world over the weekend.
Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald attended the opening on 17 July and paid tribute to those behind the event, which is built around world class tractor pulling, major live music and family attractions.
The festival runs from 17 to 19 July and has been developed on a site described by the Department for the Economy as the largest tractor pulling site in Europe, with four tracks.
Dr Archibald said events such as Revvv It Up brought people together, supported local businesses and helped showcase hospitality in Dungiven and the wider region. She also said visitors contributed to the local economy.
The event is organised and funded by BRM Utility Services, which has invested in the site. Part of the proceeds from this year’s festival will be donated to RNIB and Pulmonary Fibrosis NI.
The minister wished competitors well for the coming days and said she hoped those attending would have a safe, successful and memorable weekend.
The department said the event brings overseas competitors to the four-track site and combines tractor-pulling competition with live entertainment and attractions aimed at families.
