The Northern Ireland Executive has confirmed that Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has initiated a road improvement programme covering four distinct locations this month and next.

A £816,000 project to resurface the carriageway on Ballyrobin Road in Killead began immediately following the announcement made by the minister on Monday 29 September 2026.

This specific work will extend approximately two kilometres from the junction at the A26 Killead Roundabout down to the A57 Airport Roundabout.

Traffic disruption is scheduled for three consecutive nights between Friday and Monday in October, with full closures occurring each evening from 7pm until 6am.

The first closure period runs from Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October 2026, affecting the stretch between the two roundabouts.

A second night of roadworks will take place from Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October 2026, maintaining the same hours and route restrictions.

The final scheduled closure is set for Monday 19 October through Friday 23 October 2026, continuing the overnight disruption pattern.

In addition to the Killead project, a separate £868,000 resurfacing scheme on the A2 Belfast Road in Carrickfergus commenced on Monday 21 September 2026.

The minister also confirmed that a £308,000 carriageway resurfacing project on the B160 Tanderagee Road in Pomeroy will start on Friday 2 October 2026.

Furthermore, a £525,000 scheme located at C572 Aileach Road in Derry is due to begin operations on Monday 28 September 2026.

All four initiatives were formally announced by the Infrastructure Minister under the oversight of the Northern Ireland Executive.

The official records indicate that these projects represent a coordinated effort to maintain carriageway standards across multiple districts.

No further details regarding long-term funding or specific contractor names have been provided in the available documentation.
