Communities Minister Gordon Lyons took part in a ceremony at At the Road in Lisburn on Tuesday evening.
The event marked the participation of armed forces members who are competing in the Invictus Games.
Competitors from Northern Ireland were recognised by the minister before heading to Birmingham next year.
This marks the return of the international sporting competition to the United Kingdom for the first time since 2014.
The inaugural edition took place in London during September of that year, uniting over four hundred wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from thirteen nations.
Since then, the organisation has expanded into a global movement dedicated to aiding recovery, rehabilitation and restoring purpose among serving personnel and veterans.
