Reuben Ward has won Scotland's first men's artistic gymnastics all-around gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after holding off a close field in Glasgow.
The 21-year-old finished on 79.650 in the final at the Glasgow International Arena, where he had the backing of a home crowd. Ward had qualified third for the final but moved through the competition strongly enough to secure a landmark result for Scotland.
Canada's Felix Dolci took silver with 79.450 after recovering from a below-par display on pommel horse. Australia's Jesse Moore finished third with 79.000, leaving the podium separated by less than a point.
Ward, who won the Scottish all-around title earlier in the year, took the lead after the pommel horse, the second of his rotations. His score of 14.100 on the apparatus was the highest in the final and gave him a platform for the rest of the contest.
He also increased the difficulty of his vault compared with qualification, helping him stay ahead as the final developed. Commonwealth Sport reported that he remained solid through the second half of the competition as the arena crowd, with saltires visible, followed his pursuit of gold.
The result gave Ward the chance to hear Flower of Scotland during the medal ceremony and delivered a home victory on day three of Glasgow 2026. It also added a first Scottish gold in the men's artistic all-around to a programme already shaped by close finals and title-deciding performances.
