Sinn Féin representatives will participate in the demonstrations organised against the visit of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, to Ireland this weekend.

The American leader is set to hold meetings with Catherine Connolly, president of Ireland, and Taoiseach Micheál Martin prior to travelling to his golf course at Doonbeg in County Clare.

At Doonbeg, Trump intends to observe the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament.

The planned itinerary involves diplomatic engagements in Dublin followed by a sporting event in the west of the island.

Organisers of the protests have confirmed that Sinn Féin members will be present at the demonstrations.

The party's involvement marks its continued opposition to the US president's activities on Irish soil.
