Resurfacing works costing £290,000 have begun on the B78 Markethill Road in Aghorey, the Department for Infrastructure has announced.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said the essential maintenance scheme covers about 1km of road. The Department said the works are due to be completed by Friday 21 August 2026, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Daytime road closures will be needed on weekdays between 8.00am and 6.00pm to allow the work to be delivered safely. Traffic will be diverted via the A51 Marlacoo Road and B131 Aghorey Road, with the same route operating in reverse.
The Department said the works and traffic management arrangements had been programmed to minimise inconvenience for residents, businesses, commuters and other road users.
Drivers have been told to expect some delays and to allow extra time when travelling near the works. The Department has also asked road users to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions in the area.
Ms Kimmins said the investment was intended to deliver benefits for residents and road users, and linked the scheme to wider work to improve the road network for businesses and communities.
The traffic measures are scheduled during weekday working hours while the resurfacing operation moves along the one-kilometre section of the B78.
