A £627,000 resurfacing scheme is to be carried out on the C109 Grove Road in Ballymena, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The Department for Infrastructure said the scheme will extend from Ballyloughan Brow to Cushendall Road Roundabout, covering a total distance of 2.17km. Work is due to begin on Monday 10 August 2026 and is expected to last for eight weeks.
Ms Kimmins said the investment would bring significant benefits for residents and road users in the Ballymena area. She said the work formed part of efforts to improve the road network, which she described as important for connecting businesses and communities.
Temporary traffic management arrangements will be introduced from Monday 10 August to allow the scheme to be delivered safely. A lane closure will be in place between Monday 10 August and Friday 28 August.
A road closure is then scheduled to operate from 9.30am to 4.30pm between Monday 31 August and Wednesday 7 October. During that closure, a signed diversion route will be in place via the A26 Ballymoney Road, A42 Parkway and A43 Cushendall Road, and in the reverse direction.
The department said work operations and traffic management have been programmed to minimise inconvenience. It said local access has been accommodated throughout the scheme, but road users should expect some delays and allow additional time when travelling nearby.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are expected to be substantially complete by Wednesday 7 October 2026. The department said it would keep the public informed of any change to the programme.
