A £750,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme is to begin in Ederney on Monday 10 August, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The work will cover B4 Market Street, B4 Leatham Crescent and B4 Edenamohill Road between Main Street, Ederney, and the Colaghty Road junction. The Department for Infrastructure said the scheme will involve about three kilometres of carriageway resurfacing and minor drainage improvements.
To allow the work to be carried out safely, the department said the B4 Market Street, B4 Leatham Crescent and B4 Edenamohill Road route from the Colaghty Road junction will close to through traffic from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, for the duration of the works.
A diversion will be signposted via Irvinestown and Dromore for traffic from Main Street, Ederney. The route will use B4 Church Street, B4 Letterboy Road, B73 Manoo Road, A35 Kesh Road, A35 Fairgreen Street, A32 Pound Street, A32 Dromore Road, A32 Tummery Road, A32 Old Creamery Road, B84 Main Street and B84 Dooish Road to the Minnie Burns junction, and vice versa.
The closed roads will reopen each evening at 5pm and remain open overnight until 9am the following day. Access for local business premises and residents is to be maintained at all times.
The department said traffic management arrangements had been programmed to minimise inconvenience, but road users should expect some delays and allow extra time when travelling near the works. Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially complete by 28 August 2026.
