A £174,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme is to begin at Garden City and Ballynasilloe Avenue in Derry on Monday 3 August, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The Department for Infrastructure said the work will cover 305 metres of the U1515 Garden City and Ballynasilloe Avenue, starting 10 metres east of the centreline of its junction with U1515 Kingsfort Park and extending towards the A1002 Culmore Road.
The first phase will involve preparatory civil engineering works before resurfacing takes place. The department said lane closures will be required during the works period to allow the scheme to be delivered safely.
Motorists have been asked to take extra care when travelling near the works. The department said traffic management arrangements have been programmed to minimise inconvenience, but road users should still expect some delays.
Officials said steps have been taken to accommodate local access and Translink buses throughout the scheme. Drivers are being advised to allow additional time for journeys in the area and to comply with temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather, the works are expected to be substantially complete by Friday 11 September. The department said the public will be kept informed of any changes to the schedule.
