A major fire at a recycling plant in the dock area of east Belfast has been brought under control following an overnight operation involving more than 50 firefighters.
Smoke from the Clearway Disposals facility was first reported shortly after midday on Wednesday, prompting emergency services to respond to the incident.
Belfast Harbour confirmed that the Viking Sky cruise ship departed three hours earlier than its scheduled time on Wednesday due to the ongoing blaze.
The decision to leave the port without delay was made by the vessel's captain and the operating company.
At the height of the emergency, a significant number of personnel worked through the night to manage the situation at the site.
The fire consumed approximately 4,500 tonnes of scrap vehicles and unsecured metal materials stored within the facility.
Emergency crews successfully extinguished the flames just after midday on Friday, ending the two-day disruption.
No specific casualties were reported in connection with the incident as it was contained by ground-based firefighting efforts.
The event has concluded without further escalation at the location.
