Hundreds of members of the Orange Order were parading through Portadown on Saturday, accompanied by musical bands and a substantial crowd of supporters who remained present despite adverse weather conditions.

During the event, one individual was invited onto the stage where she received a special gift in recognition of her backing for the Drumcree Orangemen.

The proceedings commenced with a series of addresses delivered primarily by members of the Orange Order rather than political figures.

While the gathering was characterised as an Orange Order event rather than a political rally, several speakers adopted a distinctly political tone in their remarks.

Explicit criticism was directed at PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher, the secretary of state, and the first minister during the speeches.

Implicit criticism was also levelled at the leadership of both the Democratic Unionist Party and the Ulster Unionist Party.

Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim Allister received applause from the audience, though the loudest cheers were reserved for Jamie Bryson, the Orange Order's legal adviser, and local MP Lockhart.

The event concluded with the continuation of the parade through the town.
