Road users in Omagh are being informed that the Mountjoy Road and Gortin Road widening scheme will require a significant disruption to local transport.
A continuous one-way closure is scheduled for the Strathroy Road between Shergrim Glen and Gortin, running from Monday 21 September until Friday 23 October.
The Department stated these arrangements are necessary to allow completion of the works while ensuring safety for staff and contractors.
Traffic travelling towards Gortin from Shergrim Glen will be prohibited during this period, whereas access from Gortin remains open.
A main diversion route has been established via U1528 Strathroy Road, B0048 Strathroy Link Road, B0048 Derry Road, B0048 Abbey Street, B0048 McConnell Place, B0048 Sedan Avenue and B0048 Mountjoy Road.
The closure will remain continuous over weekends to facilitate uninterrupted progress on the infrastructure project.
Access for property owners and delivery vehicles will be accommodated alongside the general traffic restrictions.
Completion of the work is subject to favourable weather conditions, though the Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
All activities will follow current public health and health and safety advice with safe systems of working in place.
