The Northern Ireland Executive confirmed that preparatory works for the Old Warrenpoint Road resurfacing scheme in Newry are now complete.
Roads between Chapel Hill Road and the junction with Greenan Road will be closed to traffic starting Monday 12 October.
Northbound vehicles travelling from the Greenan Road junction toward Greenbank Roundabout will be permitted to use the Old Warrenpoint Road during this period.
Southbound traffic is directed to take the A2 Warrenpoint dual carriageway and turn left back into Old Warrenpoint Road at Forest Hills.
The Department has programmed operations to minimise inconvenience while acknowledging that delays may occur for local access road users.
Drivers are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and must comply with all temporary restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the resurfacing is expected to be substantially finished by Sunday 8 November 2026.
