Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the impact of the Peaceplus Youth Journeys Project during a visit to Limavady.
The minister visited Roe Valley Residents Association’s Youth and Community Hub to see the project first-hand and meet young people involved in the programme.
More than 1,000 people aged 14 to 24 have participated in the North-South Journeys programme since its launch in September 2024. More than 500 young people have completed the scheme.
The Department for the Economy said the minister heard from participants about their experiences, including re-engaging with learning, building confidence and making positive choices in their lives.
Dr Archibald said the project was at its mid-point and that skilled staff were working closely with young people to address individual needs and support progress towards further education and employment.
The Journeys Project is delivered by Springboard and is one of six delivery projects under the Peaceplus Youth Programme. The Department for the Economy is the lead department for the programme, which is managed by the SEUPB.
The department described the programme as a North-South funded initiative supporting disadvantaged young people through targeted interventions focused on inclusion and skills development.
