Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £400,000 improvement scheme for the A29 Ring Road in Coleraine.

The project aims to enhance active travel infrastructure and improve accessibility for pedestrians within the local area.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 20 October 2026 and is expected to last approximately six weeks.

New footway works will cover a distance of 500 metres, running from Lodge Road Roundabout to the southern side of Mountsandel Bridge.

To facilitate the project, temporary traffic management arrangements will be implemented along the A29 Ring Road.

Overnight road closures are planned for Monday through Saturday between 8pm and 6am in a direction bound for Limavady.

A diversion route has been established via Lodge Road, Nursery Avenue, Terrace Row, Bannfield Road, Hanover Place, A2 Bann Bridge, and Strand Road.

The Executive Information Service operates an out of hours media enquiry service between 1800hrs and 0800hrs Monday to Friday and at weekends and public holidays.

The duty press officer can be reached on 028 9037 8110 for further information regarding the scheme.
