A £670,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme is to begin on the A5 Victoria Road at Leckpatrick, Ballymagorry, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The work is scheduled to start on Monday 27 July and will cover 1.1 kilometres of the A5. The section runs from 120 metres south of the junction with U1824 Leckpatrick Road to 150 metres south of the junction with U1822 Lowry's Lane.
The Department for Infrastructure said the scheme will involve asphalt resurfacing and is intended to benefit road users travelling on the A5 route in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, a lane closure and diversion will be in place for southbound traffic from Monday 27 July until Friday 14 August. The restrictions will operate between 08:00 and 18:00.
During the lane closure, the signed diversion route will use B48 Duncastle Road, B49 Berryhill Road and B49 Woodend Road.
The department said the operations and traffic management arrangements have been programmed to minimise inconvenience. Local access and Translink bus services are to be accommodated throughout the scheme, but road users have been advised to expect delays, allow extra time and comply with temporary traffic restrictions.
